When a SUV visited our shop...
On july 14th, 2009, we found out what it feels like. Just before noon I happened to be sending an email to my webmaster and right after I hit SEND I see a Range Rover bounce off a small black car and heads right for our glass windows. All I had time to say is "Oh S#!+" and ducked for cover. Next thing we know is a SUV is in our lobby, power is out, smoke from the airbag makes it hard to see and I am pulling glass out of my head. Guys in the back yelling get to get out it's going to start a fire. I get my camera and start shooting. After it sets in that I will be out of business for a while, I sit in the back of the shop, trying to forward my shop calls to my cell phone, and try to catch a breather. All the news stations were called, 5th avenue was shut down for over three hours.
The driver and passengers got out ok and seemed fine. They were even laughing at times. We were all ok but reality set in when I was allowed in to get our stuff before they locked us out. We have been working hard to get back up and running. It's been tough and I thank all of you who have stopped by and called to see how were are doing. It's been a week since the accident and we have moved our operation to the back og the shop. All electricity is restored, Internet is now up and by Friday, July 24th we should be running like usual, just a bit more crowded.
Look for us to re open "the new and improved lobby" in November. Meanwhile, hope you enjoy the pics and thanks for Supporting Your Local Printer!
